Big East Football is a Collegiate Disgrace
When it comes to football, I simply cannot stand how terrible the Big East is, yet for some reason, the geniuses at the BCS think a league of eight below-mediocre football programs deserve an automatic bid. Still, despite how bad these schools are on the gridiron and how competitive the Mountain West is year-in and year-out, the MWC, a nine-school league, gets no credit.
The MWC is one win away...

Anatomy is my excuse for poor gift wrapping
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been able to wrap gifts worth a damn. I’ve always had my mom or dad assist me in the process, especially around Christmas. But this year, since I’m now a college graduate (AKA a “big boy”), I decided to wrap my folk’s gifts on my own.
As you can see from the photos below, it didn’t turn out so well. I got my...

Eclipse and text messaging turning me into a jerk
So I'm in Breckenridge right now and last night received a text message from Jessica, who's in Fort Collins, about the eclipse. Well, I was watching TV in the cabin and a commercial for Twilight Eclipse being available to purchase on DVD had just aired.
Once again, my sarcasm getting the best of me.
Jess: It's too bad we can't watch the eclipse together.
Me: Oh yeah. It's horrible.
Jess: I don't appreciate your sarcasm.
Me: Why? Becaus after we could watch the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 and 2. Then all seasons of Sex and the City and then both movie.
Jess: I thought you liked watching the stars with me, so I thought you'd like watching the eclipse too.
Me: Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, the lunar eclipse. I thought you meant Twilight. My bad.

I'm back, injured and loving it
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. - What a day. Only did seven runs today, but it felt great to really be back on the mountain and ride.
You know it’s going to be a great day when on your first two runs (the first time I rode in two years, might I add) you don’t fall a single time. Granted, on my third of the day I didn’t see the drop and wiped out pretty hard — and man, did it feel...

New title, new theme
Just a quick update. I decided to change the name of my blog today from “Notes From a Sports Writer” to “Waiting For The Balls To Drop.” I just felt it better suited a blog title, plus, fewer and fewer of my posts were about my adventures in reporting.
Also, a new theme I like a lot more. It will also help me optimize my tumblr experience by adding the “ask me...

It's nice to be back on the mountain
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. - Two years. That’s how long it had been since I rode a snowboard down a mountain. That ended tonight.
Well, fine, it wasn’t a mountain tonight, but the bottom of a ski-in, ski-out ramp at the Mountain Thunder Lodge in Breckenridge, but I didn’t check in to the hotel until 4:45 p.m. today and it was getting dark — I needed to feed my urge. When I got...

Wondering what happened to Harvey Perry?
What a trip. And nine hour drive to Kansas City on Friday to see Colorado State take on Kansas, and a nine hour drive back to Fort Collins today.
As I came into the Collegian office a half hour ago, I decided to act like a stereotypical college student (hey, I only have a week left for using that excuse) and immediately check my Facebook and on the News Feed I see a video thumbnail of what looks...
